Interior Door Installation
Doors That Fit.
Spaces That Work.
Interior doors do more than close off rooms — they define the flow, privacy, and character of your home. We install and replace interior doors that fit precisely, operate smoothly, and complement your space.

Interior Doors That Fit Your Home and Your Life
Interior doors are one of the most frequently used components of your home — opened and closed dozens of times each day. Yet they're often the last thing homeowners think about updating. Old, damaged, or poorly fitted interior doors make rooms feel dated, reduce privacy, and can even affect sound insulation between spaces.
At A-1 Windows & Doors, we install and replace interior doors of every type for homes throughout Northern Colorado — from bedroom and bathroom doors to closet systems, pantry doors, and laundry room entries. Whether you're replacing a single damaged door or upgrading every door in your home, we handle precise measurement, clean removal, expert installation, and trim work that blends with your existing finishes.
We work with both prehung and slab door options, in hollow-core and solid-core construction, and across a wide range of styles — panel doors, French doors, bi-fold closet doors, pocket doors, and barn door hardware. Our job is to help you choose the right door for each opening and install it so it operates perfectly for years.

Choose the Installation Approach Around the Existing Opening
A slab can be a practical choice when the existing jamb is sound, square, and worth keeping. It still has to be sized and prepared for the actual hinge and latch locations. A prehung unit replaces the slab and jamb together and is usually the clearer path when the frame is damaged, badly out of square, or part of a larger renovation.
Door weight, privacy, sound control, hardware, floor clearance, casing, and nearby switches or trim all affect the finished result. Solid-core doors can improve the feel and acoustic separation of a room, but the hinges, jamb, and installation need to support the added weight.
- Check whether the frame is sound enough for a slab-only replacement
- Choose hollow-core or solid-core based on budget, weight, privacy, and sound goals
- Confirm floor transitions and undercut before ordering
- Plan casing and finish work so the new door belongs in the room
Not Sure What Your Interior Door Needs?
Sticking, sagging, damaged doors, poor sound control, and worn hardware do not all call for the same solution. Our guide explains which problems may be repairable and when replacement makes more sense.
Our Interior Door Installation Process
Consultation & Measurement
We assess each opening, measure for proper fit, and help you select the right door style, material, and hardware for every room — from bedrooms to closets to pantries.
Selection & Ordering
Once you've chosen your doors — prehung or slab, solid-core or hollow-core — we place the order and schedule installation for as soon as they arrive.
Removal & Prep
On installation day, we carefully remove old doors and hardware, inspect the frame and hinges, and prepare the opening — protecting your floors and walls throughout.
Installation & Trim
We hang the new door, adjust hinges and latch for smooth operation, install hardware, and handle trim adjustments or casing work so the finished result looks clean and intentional.

We treat every door — from a single bathroom replacement to a full-home package — with the same attention to fit, function, and finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely. We replace single doors all the time — whether one is damaged, or you're upgrading room by room. The one consideration is matching the style and finish of the new door to your existing doors, so the space still looks cohesive. We'll help you find the closest match available.
A slab door is just the door panel itself — no frame or hinges included. It gets fitted into your existing door frame. A prehung door comes already mounted in its frame, with hinges and a threshold attached, and the entire unit is installed into the wall opening. Prehung doors are ideal for new construction or when the existing frame is damaged; slab doors are more efficient when the existing frame is in good condition.
Yes, and it's one of the most common upgrades we do. Solid-core doors are heavier and provide significantly better sound insulation between rooms — a major improvement for bedrooms, bathrooms, and home offices. The existing hinges may need to be upgraded to support the additional weight, which we handle as part of the installation.
Duration depends on slab-only versus prehung installation, jamb condition, hinge and lock preparation, floor clearance, casing and finish work, hardware, access, and the number of openings. A-1 confirms the expected sequence after reviewing the actual package rather than promising a fixed per-door time.
In most cases, yes. When we install slab doors into existing frames, we carefully remove and reinstall the existing trim and casing. If the trim is damaged or you're upgrading to prehung doors, we can install new casing that matches your home's style. We'll let you know upfront if reusing trim isn't practical.
Yes — we install all types of closet and utility doors, including bi-fold systems, sliding closet doors, French interior doors, pocket doors, and barn door hardware. Closet door systems have specific track and hardware requirements, and we make sure everything is aligned and operates smoothly before we finish.
