Service life varies with material, product construction, exposure, installation, finish, use, and maintenance. The slab may remain sound while weatherstrip, threshold, finish, hinges, or other hardware need earlier attention, so evaluate the complete opening rather than relying on a fixed lifespan.
In many cases, yes — if the frame is square, level, plumb, and free of rot or damage, we can install a new door slab into the existing frame. However, if the frame has shifted, warped, or deteriorated, replacing the full unit (door and frame) ensures a weathertight, secure installation.
Yes. Sidelights (narrow glass panels beside the door) and transoms (glass above the door) can be incorporated into a new entry system. This requires replacing the full unit including the frame, and we'll help you select configurations that fit your opening and complement your home's architecture.
